Formatting reference for articles

This reference covers every block and formatting option in the Knowledge Base Editor. Press / in a page, or select Add a block, to insert any of them.
Block | Use it for |
Paragraph | Normal body text. |
Heading 1–4 | Section titles. Use Heading 2 for main sections and Heading 3 for subsections. Headings also appear in the article's On this page outline. |
Bulleted list | Items in no particular order. |
Numbered list | Steps customers follow in order. |
Blockquote | Tips, notes, and warnings that should stand out. |
Select text to apply:
Bold for button names and key terms
Italic for emphasis
Strikethrough
Inline code for file names, values, and keyboard shortcuts
Links to other articles or websites
Links must start with http:// or https://, or be a path on your help center that starts with /. When adding a link, you can type / to search for one of your articles.
Use a code block for code samples, API requests, or configuration. Choose a Code language for syntax highlighting. Customers can select Copy code to copy the contents.
Use tables to compare options or list settings.
Select Add column or Add row, or click the edge of the table.
Use Insert above, Insert below, Insert left, and Insert right to add cells in a specific place.
Turn on a Header row or Header column to label your data.
Insert an Image block and select Upload image.
Choose a PNG, JPG, JPEG, or WEBP file up to 10 MB.
Open Alt text and settings to describe the image for screen readers. If the image is purely decorative, choose Decorative - skip in screen readers.
To change an image, select Replace image.
Insert a Video embed block.
Paste a YouTube or Vimeo link into Video URL.
When you publish, Supahelp automatically switches the video to its privacy-friendly player (youtube-nocookie.com or player.vimeo.com).
Cards highlight a destination with an icon, a Card title, a Card description, and an optional Card link. Use cards to point customers to related articles or next steps. Leave the link empty for a card that only displays information.
Accordions show a list of questions that expand to reveal their answers. They're ideal for FAQ pages. Add a Question, type the answer beneath it, and use Remove question to delete one. Customers select a question to expand it.
Start with the answer, then add detail.
Use one Heading 2 per task or topic.
Put each step on its own line in a numbered list.
Bold the exact names of buttons and menus.
Add alt text to every screenshot.
